Pick-up room for silo
Our latest addition to the option range for silo tanks is a pick-up room in insulated lightweight material. The room is easy to install thanks to the low weight of the sections and the fact that the silo is prepared with connections in stainless steel. The pick-up room is delivered in a complete package, including walls and roof in lightweight material, frame in stainless steel, ventilation hatches and a lockable door with a window. There is plenty of space in the room to install a sink if desired. The pick-up room is a convenient and affordable alternative to the traditional milk room.

Robot connections
All our horizontal tanks and silos can be easily connected to all types of automatic milking systems. You merely need to mount an adapter and a pneumatically controlled automatic emptying valve to make your Wedholms milk cooling tank a robotic tank. By connecting the tank’s control system to the CRS-system of your milking robot, it can be controlled and key information can be obtained from the tank. We also offer a special home consumption button, mounted on the control unit, which allows you to obtain milk for your own needs directly from the cooling tank.

Our robot connections can of course be factory-mounted. However, they are also easily installed to an existing tank. This means that with a milk cooling tank from Wedholms you have a flexible solution that can be easily adapted if you decide to change your way of milk production.

Home consumption button
For customers with robotic milking systems, we offer a special solution, mounted on the control unit of the tank, which allows you to obtain milk for your own needs directly from the cooling tank. The solution is very smart as it takes control of the pneumatic valve of the tank outlet and opens it. You can also regulate the opening degree of the valve and thus the milk flow from the outlet. This flow setting will be fixed so all you need to do the next time is press a button. Of course, the flow setting can be easily changed anytime. The home consumption button can be factory-mounted or installed at the farm on an existing tank.

Our horizontal milk cooling tanks with model DF953/95 have an inclination of 1.9 % as a standard at delivery. The front legs of the tank are shorter than the rare legs. To facilitate installation in the milk room, if height is an issue, we offer short transportation legs as an option. The short legs are mounted to the tank on farm instead of the ordinary middle (if applicable) and rare legs, and the total height of the tank will thus be reduced by 50-100 mm, depending on the tank size. This could mean that the tank would fit through the door of the milk room! The legs have a robust construction in stainless steel. Note that the legs are delivered in pairs so you need to order one or two pairs, depending on the size of your tank. The front legs are already short.

Alcove for Silo
We offer an insulated alcove in lightweight material so you can easily connect your new silo tank to the milk room. With an alcove, you can reach the control unit, the manhole and the outlet from the milk room and there is no need to build in the silo into the building. The alcove has a smart design, with walls and roof in lightweight material and ledges in stainless steel. It is also prepared for the installation to the outer wall of the milk room and can easily be adjusted to the thickness of the wall. If ordered together with the silo, a special ledge is welded to the silo body at factory, to enable faster installation of the alcove on farm. The alcove is delivered in pre-cut sections which are easy to mount. The sections can also easily be shortened if necessary. The lightweight material makes the sections easy to handle and install. For an extra cost, the alcove is available in different colors and dimensions.

Top manhole for silo
We offer an extra, optional manhole on top of the silo to enable inspection and service of the cleaning head. The diameter of the top manhole is 448 mm and it is made from high-quality stainless steel and optimized for outdoor installation. The top manhole has to be factory mounted. A fixed ladder with safety cage is recommended for silo tanks with a top manhole.

Ladder with safety cage for silo
We offer a ladder in aluminum with a safety cage, to enable quick and safe access to the top of the silo for service purposes. The ladder is made from high quality, lightweight aluminum and optimized for outside installation and it fulfills all relevant safety standards. A fixed ladder is recommended for silos with heights over 4 m (20,000 liter and upwards) and in combination with a top manhole. Here you can read more about the top manhole. Note that the ladder is shipped separately from the silo tank, because of transport dimensions. Thus, it needs to be installed on farm. It can also be retrofitted to existing silos.

Sample cock for silo
The optional Wedholms sample cock for silo tanks is a valve with a tap, mounted to the manhole door, to enable milk samples from the silo tank. Our sample cock is made from high-quality stainless steel and optimized for the environment of a milk room. The valve is connected to the cleaning system of the tank, so it will be automatically cleaned during the ordinary cleaning of the silo. This makes the solution hygienic and there is no risk for contamination of the milk. Note that the sample cock must be installed frost-free, inside a milk room or an insulated alcove. Note that a sample cock is a requirement from some dairies. The sample cock is factory mounted.

Pressure milk meter for silo
Of course, it is interesting for you to know how much milk you have in your tank at any given moment. This is why we offer a pressure milk meter as an option, which will help you stay in control by monitoring the milk volume in your silo tank. Our pressure milk meter automatically registers the pressure inside the silo outlet and by that calculates the milk volume in the tank. The accuracy is very good, 0.5%. The pressure meter comes with a separate display that can be mounted to the wall in the milk room. It is a complete solution including a flange for mounting on the silo outlet, a calibrated display unit and a pressure meter.
The pressure meter can be factory-mounted or retrofitted on farm with a special extension to the existing outlet. Please contact Wedholms directly if you have questions about retrofitting a pressure meter to your existing silo tank.
